Disputes involving professionals may take many forms, including malpractice claims. When a complaint against a health care provider is involved, legal reporting requirements may complicate the negotiations.  Elizabeth’s years of experience with disputes involving professionals helps her bring these cases to resolution.  Her experience includes:

Years of experience as a mediator, including mediation of professional malpractice and other matters involving professionals.

Psychologically informed mediation style which is sensitive to issues regarding "saving face" and professional standing.  For more on this, press here.

Years of law practice representing plaintiffs and defendants prior to becoming a mediator.

Practice also included representation of health professionals, such as doctors and oral surgeons, in challenges to hospital peer review proceedings. Received referrals from the California Medical Association.

Over twenty years experience in insurance including malpractice insurance.

Prevailing appellate counsel in Ninth Circuit case, Conestoga Services Corp. v. Executive Risk Indemnity Inc.  (9th Cir. 2002) 312 Fed. 3d 976 [dealing with causation in an E & O policy].

Author, chapter in an ADR treatise and numerous articles on confidentiality in mediation.  On confidentiality, see also Rojas v. Superior Court (2004) 33 Cal.4th 407, 418, fn. 7 (granting judicial notice request by Elizabeth and co-amicus) and Carrizosa, SF Daily Journal,  July 27, 2004, p. 1  (discussing role played by Elizabeth in Rojas, with quote).
